When I first learned sketchUp by teaching myself I would get so frustrated once a model got complex as I only used groups a little bit. If you don't group enough when you try to change a complex drawing, you will be pulling your hair out and smashing your keyboard. So move a line and it stretches everything touching it, unless they are in separate groups, so groups are key. SketchUp works like everything is constrained. Groups inside of groups inside of groups. If you think you have too many groups, you probably still need more. It's cheap, there's a big library of objects to grab from like plants and trees, you can import objects from the sketchUp library right into autocad too if needed to keep everything matching. ![]() When we do need more than just coloring some elevations with hatches to show a client, we use sketchUp as Dean mentioned. ![]() We don't do much rendering as we are mostly bid documents and fancy visuals are not needed.
